Changing the outside graphic when flip open using Bitpim...
Changing the Startup/Shutdown sounds and animations, plus changing the graphic on the outside LCD when the flip is open using Bitpim.

Required...
1. USB Cable for your phone.
2. Install the USB Drivers
3. BitPim installer (free download from BitPim.ORG) NOTE: please use BitPim v1.01 or higher!!
Configuring BitPim...
after installing the drivers, rebooting if necessary, and connecting your cable and phone...
launch Windows Device Manager (right click on My Computer, from the pop-up select MANAGE).
Under Modems, you should see Motorola USB Modem
Under USB Controllers you may also see Motorola USB Composite Device.
If you haven't done so already, install BitPim. Once its installed, lauch BitPim using the Start menu icon for it.
Since the V3M, K1M, Maxx Ve, and V9M are NOT natively supported in Bitpim, the Autodetect feature will fail to find the phone. So manually configure it...
Do this by clicking Settings from the
Edit pull down menu.
Use the Phone Type Box to select "Other CDMA
phone"

Even if you know
the "com port" DO NOT manually set it. Instead, click the Browse button to the
right of the Com Port box.
A Choose Com Port window will pop-upscan ports. It will have 3
"sections" listing Available Ports, Ports Not Available, and Inoperable Ports.
Select "Motorola USB Modem" or "Motorola USB Diagnostic Port (COM XX)" from the listing of Available
Ports and Click OK.
The BitPim settings window show now reflect your phone choice and com port...
Making use of the File System feature of BitPim...
For ALL PHONES... even those not NATIVELY Supported....
You can make use of the File System "tab" to copy files back to your PC, over
write them, and in some cases, even ADD files or folders to the phone... Right Click and get
a pop-up menu with actions...
NOTE: on Some phones, when using BitPim's file system feature, you may encounter "this folder has been locked by your
provider." error message when accessing certain folders. For Non-LG phones, there is no known work around for this.
Use the VIEW pull down menu and select File System.
BitPim will now have a
File System icon along the left. Click on it.
In the center column, Click the + next to the folder to expand the
listing.

To replace the outer graphic when flip is open... Note: This one only applies to phones using the Verizon UI, as phones with the Moto UI, the outer graphic is controlled by the skin being used.
Using the File

From the pop-up choose OVERWRITE... From the "Select a file" dialog
box, find/select the Picture on your PC, and click OPEN. Bitpim will write
it to the phone and you will be back to the normal BitPim screen.
To replace the Start Up Sound...
Using the File
System Tab in Bitpim (as outlined above), navigate to the appropriate folder. Right click on the ui_start_up_mono.mp_ file.
From the pop-up choose OVERWRITE... From the "Select a file" dialog
box, find/select the sound file on your PC, and click OPEN. Bitpim will write
it to the phone and you will be back to the normal BitPim screen.
To replace the Shut Down Sound...
Using the File

From the pop-up choose OVERWRITE... From the "Select a file" dialog
box, find/select the sound file on your PC, and click OPEN. Bitpim will write

To replace the Start Up Animated Graphic...
Using the File

From the pop-up choose OVERWRITE... From the "Select a file" dialog
box, find/select the sound file on your PC, and click OPEN. Bitpim will write
it to the phone and you will be back to the normal BitPim screen.
