RingStyle Fix
When deleting Ringtones using P2KCommander, BitPim or even MPT, there is a
chance you can delete a ring tone that is in use... Or if you flash a
different firmware version, and a ringtone in use changes, or is removed...
If this happens, you will no
longer be able to edit that Ring Style.. Attempts to do so result in the
phone kicking you back out to the menu...
Here is a potential fix....
Get PST v7.23 (see the PC
Software page for info, and DO NOT ask me where to get a copy).. Get the
necessary drivers (Don't use the ones included with PST... See the PC SOFTWARE PAGE )
Connect your phone and load the drivers up... (See the SEEM EDIT PREP-WORK if you need help with this)....
From inside PST Phone Programmer... Do FILE -> NEW -> Feature File... From the
Phone Pull Down Menu... click READ...
For each alert type... change the number in the box to 26 (Silent) then from the
phone pull down, click on WRITE...
When its finished.. click Phone -> Restart... and unplug your phone... (OR
disconnect the phone, pull the battery, and re-insert the battery)...
You may also want to use P2KCommander or BitPim to delete the MyToneDB.DB
file, and restart the phone to re-index all the ring tones.
NOTE: Because the MyToneDB.DB is the "master index" to the ring tones, deleting and recreating
this file causes all ring tones to be re-indexed.. as such, your custom
selections of tones for Ring Styles or Caller ID WILL change.
