Seem editing on the Verizon Razr2 V9M

This is a VERY QUICKLY put together of how to seem edit the Verizon Razr2 V9M... Note: as time permits, I will clean up and try to make easier to follow...

Some Background info first....

P2KSeem for V710 has issues loading and saving files with the Razr2 V9m, as such we can no longer use it to load/save seem files. Below is a workaround that we found...

NOTE: this only works for seems that can be read/written with bytes (h) of 0000... For Seems like 275A which require you specifiy an EXACT byte value when reading/writing can NOT be edited using this process.

Required...

1.  USB Cable (see the FAQ)
2.  P2KCommander v4.9.D setup and working per V9M-P2KC.htm
3. Install P2KSeem for V710. (To install P2KSeem for V710.. Just unzip all the files in the archive you downloaded to a folder. It does not need to be "installed." There is no "setup" program.)

The process....

Reminder: While using P2KCommander, do not use any other programs, let the P2KCommander window have "focus" and be the currently active window/program.  Do NOT put it to the background.  Do NOT allow your screen saver to kick in.  Some "helper" programs like messengers (Google Talk, etc.), 3rd party mouse drivers, etc. can cause P2KCommander to FREEZE, so be sure to exit any/all programs you can before using P2KCommander!

Start up P2kCommander...

UNPLUG the phone from the computer.

Start MSU and leave it running.

Launch the P2KCommander.exe... (it should already be setup and configured properly per V9M-P2KC.htm)

Once P2KCommander is started, Plug your phone in.

Watch the lower left for P2KCommander to state "CMD: Answer packet invalid!" and "Volume name fail!" messages, these are normal when using P2KCommander with CDMA Moto's.

In GUI interface,  the use the "drop down box" to change the one side to P2K MOBILE PHONE... Click the Re-Read button.

Save seem from Phone to PC...

Use the Seem Edit pull down menu and select Old Dialog

In the Seem Manager window, enter the Seem number(1) and Record Number(2) in the boxes, click on the READ and save to file button(3)

From the "Save As..." dialog box, browse to the folder on the PC you want to save to, make note of the file name and then click SAVE.

Note: P2KCommander will save the file as SeemNumber_RecordNumber.seem ( 2742_1.seem ).

Minimize P2kCommnader. Do Not close it.

Edit the seem...

NOTE: while editing the seem, be careful not to make any extraneous key presses, as you could inadvertantly make an unexpected change. This is very easy to do, and a very common problem.

To execute P2KSeem for V710, just double click the P2KSEEM.EXE from the folder you extracted the files to earlier.

P2KSeem for V710 launches with Byte field fill in as 7a (hex) and the the Load Seem filled in as 041A.  Please change the values for Seem Number, Bytes (h), and Record Number as needed for the Phone and Seem Edit you wish to make!! Failure to do so could cause problems ranging from P2KSeem just not reading the seem from the phone, to totally messing up your phone!!

For this example (Moto V9M phone), We will perform the edit to enable Web Session choice in the Service Programming Menu. It is Seem 2742, Bytes(h) is 0000, Record is 1, Offset is 18 (or 0018), Bit 5.

So, in the next step, in the LOAD area we fill in Bytes as 0000 , Seem as 2742, and Record  as 1.

In the Load area, fill in the Bytes(1), Seem (2), and Record (3). Once they are filled in correctly, Click the LOAD FROM FILE button as opposed to the traditional seem edit process in the past where we loaded from phone. NOTE: for the example screen shot, we used Bytes = 0000, Seem = 2742, and record =1.

From the "Open" dialog box, navigate to and select the SEEM file that you just saved with P2KCommander and click OPEN.

You will see a bunch of "junk" (really its hex codes, etc) in the top part of the window.

Under Selected Byte Details (lower left section) you will see OFFSET:0000 (that is where the cursor is at load time.

We need to get to offset 18, so use the arrows to move the cursor until OFFSET reads 0018 (Hint: use the DOWN ARROW on PC the keyboard 1 times to get to Line 000010, then use the RIGHT ARROW on the PC keyboard 16 times to get to offset 0018).

Click on the box for BIT 5 to put a check mark in it.

That sets BIT5 = 1(in this case, enabled)

Note: A check mark in the box means the value for that bit is set to 1 or On.  No check mark in the box means the value for that bit is set to 0 or Off.

NOTE: while "Checking the Box" or "turning ON" the bit usually enables, there are a few cases in which "UNCHECKING the Box" or "Turning OFF" the bit enables the feature!!! So pay attention!

Click the SAVE TO FILE button in the lower right.

From the "Save As..." dialog box, browse to the folder on the PC you want to save to, make note of the NEW file name (Example: 2742_0001.seem) and then click SAVE.

You many now exit P2kSeem.

Write Seem File from PC to Phone...

Switch back to (or Restore) your P2kCommander window.

Use the Seem Edit pull down menu and select Old Dialog

In the Seem Manager window, enter the Seem number(1) and Record Number(2) in the boxes, click on the Load from file and WRITE button(3)

From the "Open" dialog box, navigate to and select the NEW SEEM file that you just saved with P2KSeem (Example: 2742_0001.seem) and click OPEN. There will be no warning, the seem will just be written as soon as you click that OPEN button.

P2kCommander will write the seem.

Exit P2KCommander.

Exit MSU.

Unplug the phone.

For the changes to take affect, power your phone off, wait about 20 seconds, then turn it back on.  (Note: some have also suggested removing/replacing the battery after you power the phone off prior to powering the phone back on.)

Thats it.
