Make MP3 Ring Tones

I am trying to get time to sit with Cool Edit and take screen shots of the process I use... (been trying to get time for many weeks now!!)...

For now, here is a Quickie Guide that works for CoolEdit Pro with Optional MP3 Plug-In as well as Adobe Audition 1.5.  Note: In CoolEdit Pro the Mp3 codec is called MP3 FhG (*.mp3)  in Adobe Audition its mp3Pro FhG (*.mp3)

Do a File -> Open to open my wav file into the editor.   Edit/trim/amplify as needed.

In some cases, if I have to convert from Stereo to Mono before saving, I will FIRST copy the current, already edited, wave form to the clip board... (CTRL-A to select all, then CTRL-C top copy to clip board..) then do File -> New, Pick 44kHz, Mono,16bit as the settings... Then do Edit -> Paste.

To save...

I Do a File -> Save As... set the "Save As Type:" to MP3 FhG (*.mp3)... remove the check for Save Extra non-audio information. Press the OPTIONS button. Set CBR (Constant Bitrate), MP3, 48Kbps/44100Hz Mono (14.7:1), Remove the check boxes for Set Private Bit and Set Copyright Bit then click OK. Then click the SAVE Button. That should save it as Mpeg 1.0 Layer 3... Play it back and check the File Info in WinAMP just to be sure.
